Who is Darth Plagueis and will he be in Star Wars: The Force Awakens? There is a rumor that has begun to pick- up a rather lot of steam, as of late, regarding a villain in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The rumor holds that Darth Plagueis, Emperor Plaptine/Darth Sidious’ Sith Master, is either alive and well, or a Force ghost, controlling Kylo Ren and the First Order from his evil castle on a remote planet. The rumor also goes on to say that Luke Skywalker is guarding Darth Plagueis’ tomb which is located on a remote jungle- type planet, or watching his evil Sith castle on same remote jungle- planet, in order to keep one of the most powerful Sith in the universe from re- creating the Sith Empire. As rumors go, this one may be out there, but until December, when The Force Awakens hits theaters, we won’t know. So, just who is Darth Plagueis, and how does he figure into the Star Wars universe? Remember back with, if you will, to Star Wars: Episode VI Revenge of the Sith, when Emperor Palpatine tells Anakin Skywalker about the tragedy of Darth Plagueis.“Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith so powerful and so wise, he could use the Force to influence the midi- chlorians to create. He had such a knowledge of the Dark Side, he could even keep the ones he cared about. As we know, Padme died from heartbreak, learning what Anakin had ultimately become. Anakin asks Palpatine if Plagueis was successful.“He became so powerful, the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew. Then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. ![]() He could save others from death. One to embody power, the other to crave it.“While his Master lay slowly dying, Plaugueis observed the midi- chlorians slowly dying and leaving his body. This would be the starting point for a life- long obsession with immortality, that resulted in the birth of Anakin Skywalker. To shorten this long history of one of the most powerful and influential Sith Lords in Sith history, Plagueis found his apprentice Palpatine on Naboo, and noticed that the you and inspiring senator from a royal house, displayed strong connections to the Force. During the years of Sidious’ training, Plagueis was attacked and almost killed, having the lower half of his face cut off, resulting in him having to wear a re- breather device. Darth Plagueis figure. Once trained in the ways of the Dark Side, Palpatine made a bid for the Galactic Senate and eventual Grand Chancellor. However, in his alter ego of Darth Sidious, he secretly planned to kill his Master. Sidious had begun to train a new apprentice named Darth Maul, which would in turn make Sidious a Sith Lord. Sidious enjoyed his Master’s agony, and watched with glee as he slowly tortured his master to death. Once Darth Plagueis died, Sidious experienced a huge disturbance in the Force. He interpreted the shift as a sign that the Force had anointed him the sole remaining Master of the Dark Side. However, he also experienced sadness and loss in the Force. Sidious feared that the cause of his unrest, was a sign that his former Master’s experiments had succeeded after all, that Plagueis’ spirit had somehow survived his earthly body’s death. He was afraid that Plagueis would return to exact vengeance upon his treacherous apprentice. But that is not the way of the Sith, nor was it the way of Darth Plagueis. If nothing, Plaguies was a calm and controlling Sith Lord. He was never rash, nor did he make any moves, without first evaluating every angle, possibility, and outcome. So, now that you know the saga of Darth Plagueis, how do you think he could possibly fit into Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Recently, concept art for TFA has surfaced, of a Muun with a red lightsaber, in a battle with a female that appears to be Rey. Now, this is just concept art, but it does seem like a Plagueis- type Sith Lord is clearly shown. Going back to Kylo Ren, and who could possibly be pulling his strings. In the first Force Awakens trailer, a voice is heard (later confirmed to be Andy Serkis), saying: “There’s been an awakening? The Dark Side. Also, what better line for a Sith Lord obsessed with immortality and rebirth in the Force, than the one above? Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith is a 2005 American epic space opera film written and directed by George Lucas. It is the third installment of the Star. So, just who is Darth Plagueis, and how does he figure into the Star Wars universe? Remember back with, if you will, to Star Wars: Episode VI Revenge of the Sith. STAR WARS EPISODE 3: REVENGE OF THE SITH SCRIPT George Lucas 1 EXT. SPACE A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. A vast sea of stars serves as the backdrop for. Unfortunately, the book was released before the Star Wars canon was rebooted in 2014. The events of the novel slipped into the realm of "Legends canon," the name now. Will Darth Plagueis be the actual big- bad villain, pulling Kylo Ren’s strings from the shadowy confines of his supposed tomb or castle? Is Luke trying to stop him? These are all just rumors and should be taken as such, but now that you are familiar with the character of Plagueis, perhaps now you will be thinking about it, that much more. ![]() Star Wars Episode VII Trailer 2. If nothing else, it's a nice refresher on where we are after The Force Awakens. We’ve seen the Star Wars: The Last Jedi teaser trailer; we’ve got a beautiful, enticing poster; and every day, more information arrives that hints at what we could see in the final film. Below you’ll find everything we know about the follow up to The Force Awakens, so check back regularly for the latest news and information about the biggest cinematic event of the year. Star Wars 8 director is indie sensation Rian Johnson. Rian Johnson is writing and directing. Don’t know who he is? He wrote and directed the excellent and utterly unique Brick in 2. He also did brutal time- travel fable Looper in 2. Also, his first short film was called Evil Demon Golf Ball From Hell!!!, which sounds like nothing if not an exasperated casual slur for a Death Star. He’s even directed three episodes of Breaking Bad. Johnson revealed that Luke Skywalker is at the heart of the Star Wars 8 story. Speaking to USA Today, he explained that, “what’s going on with Luke Skywalker?” is the central question surrounding the upcoming movie. He also said that he wanted Star Wars 8 to be, “a blast and to be funny and to be a ride the way The Force Awakens and the original Star Wars movies were.” Less like a bleak reflection of Empire Strikes Back than many were expecting, then, but still exciting. He’s also uncompromising about to delivering his vision. Johnson decided that the scar Kylo Ren got fighting Rey at the end of The Force Awakens looked goofy, so he fixed it. If you thought Kylo Ren looked different, well spotted. Star Wars 8 release date is December 1. At the moment we’ve got a release date for the UK and US of December 1. Czech Republic, Poland, and Russia can apparently catch it a day earlier on December 1. Everybody else will have to wait another agonising day. Premieres for The Force Awakens happened four days before the US cinematic release, so you should be on full spoiler alert for Episode 8 from December 1. Seriously, turn the internet off. It’s a shame they moved the original May 2. Let’s hope we head to Hoth for all the festive feels. The Star Wars 8 trailer is here! Well, the teaser trailer is, at least. We finally got to see it at Star Wars Celebration Orlando 2. Star Wars: The Force Awakens which reached 1. You. Tube views in 2. Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer hit a not- too- shabby 1. You can watch it below, and don't miss our list of 1. The Last Jedi trailer. Star Wars 8 costumes revealed for Kylo Ren and Rey. We now know what Rey will be wearing in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, thanks to special skins revealed as part of a Star Wars Battlefront 2 pre- order bonus. As you can see, it's very Qui- Gon Jinn. You might scoff and say . Does this hint at a narrative link to everyone's least favourite Jed. I? Probably not, but it's a strong look nonetheless. There's another snippet of information we can glean from the same piece of promotional art. Kylo Ren's outfit has changed slightly - his hooded cloak has been replaced by a flowing black cloak reminiscent of Grandpa Vader. This links to prior speculation that Ren would be wearing the cape in homage to his Dark Side relative. How did it manage to survive being burned at the end of Return of the Jedi? Maybe Vader had spares. But it's very in character for Ren, and would be a smart throwback to the earlier films. Star Wars 8 cast has a few surprise names. Everyone who isn’t dead is coming back, and yes, that does include Gwendoline Christie’s Captain Phasma. Let’s break down all the new characters: We’ve got more details about Benicio Del Toro's mysterious man in black, but you might might want to skip this paragraph if you want to go into the movie spoiler- free. Making. Star. Wars. Del Toro's character is a grimy, suspicious mess. Here's where it gets really cool, though: his ship is apparently completely at odds with the character. While he's an unkempt wreck, his craft is positively luxurious, putting the Millennium Falcon to shame. The suggestion here is that he's part of a jailbreak, and that Finn and Kellie Marie Tran's character are busting him out - which explains his appearance. Either that, or his character is deliberately not who he seems - a classic Star Wars twist we've seen before with Yoda and Obi- wan. We finally know who Kelly Marie Tran will be playing in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. She’s a new hero called Rose, but she’s not an ace pilot or an steely bounty hunter - she's part of the Resistance's maintenance crew. That simplicity is part of her appeal, according to Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson - it’s the encouraging idea that anyone can step up and become a hero. The positively regal Laura Dern is apparently playing someone “very aristocratic”. And, as anyone who’s seen any Star Wars films knows, this is code for . Except that in Laura Dern’s case, her hair is pink. Dern revealed in an interview with Yahoo News that she won't even tell her own children who she's playing. This is partly because she want to save her children the constant, probing questions from their friends. Obviously, I'm going to speculate wildly and assume that the level of secrecy is because she's A Big Deal. Did someone say Rey's mum? Warwick Davis is back, because it wouldn't be Star Wars without him. Also appearing in unconfirmed roles are the astonishingly wonderful Gugu Mbatha- Raw; and, most bizarrely of all, eccentric British comedy legend Ade Edmonson appears in a super- secret role. Elsewhere, Yoda voice actor Frank Oz was suspiciously coy when asked about about The Last Jedi. When questioned about the film in a Variety review, the legendary actor and puppeteer replied, . And finally, there's no positive way of spinning the loss of an icon like Carrie Fisher, but at least we know we'll get to see her as Leia Organa one final time in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed that her role in the upcoming movie is whole and untouched, and the episode remains unchanged following her death. Star Wars 8 - Han Solo to return? Harrison Ford has never been officially confirmed as being in the cast, but his name did briefly appear on a casting call document for the film, before swiftly disappearing after the entire internet shouted “Look! Harrison Ford’s name on an Episode 8 casting call document!”. The late Carrie Fisher let it slip during the Star Wars Celebration that there may be a funeral scene for Han, and multiple sources are reporting that an attempt will be made on Leia’s life during the funeral. Star Wars 8 plot will continue where the last film ended. For the first time, a Star Wars sequel is going to continue right from the end of the previous film. In fact, the end of The Force Awakens was changed to accommodate this. The Last Jedi director told Entertainment Weekly that he asked JJ Abrams to change the ending of the The Force Awakens. BB- 8 was originally going to accompany Rey to Ahch- To, but Johnson wanted R2- D2 to join her instead.
